About Us

Cambridgeshire Royals

The Cambridgeshire Royals Dragon Boat Club was formed on 21st April 2014 and we are based at the St Neots Marina, Eynesbury, St Neots, Cambridgeshire.

We train 3 times a week (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays) throughout the summer months, going down to once a week in the winter (Sundays) with additional mid week fitness sessions. We compete at national level as a premiership team during the summer season (April - Sept).

We are a smaller club which gives us a real family atmosphere and despite our competitive nature, have lots of fun paddling with our teammates on the water. Membership with the Royals also includes social membership at our nearby bowling club facilities where you can buy drinks and snacks for a very reasonable price!

Dragon boating is a unique sport whereby family members can take part together, not only in a fun and friendly atmosphere but also at a competitive level. For example we have fathers, mothers, sons, daughters and even grandparents all in the same boat.

We also offer corporate sessions to local companies, this is mainly to support them to enter into local charity dragon boat events.

However, dragon boating isn't just all about the paddling - there are other roles within our team that are just as vital. We have drummers keeping time on the drum at the front of the boat, helms steering the boat at the back and BDA qualified coaches organising sessions, boat loads, training plans, race days etc. Basic paddling is a good start, but anyone one also interested in any of the above is also encouraged to progress.
